About

Who’s behind the lens?

Photography isn’t about collecting images. It’s a silent dialogue, capturing what emerges when masks fall, when light brushes a gesture, a glance, a breath. My camera is a bridge: between you and yourself, between the moment and its memory.

“Every light, every shadow, every gesture reveals what my eyes alone could not express.”

I spent my childhood in the stunning coastal town of Gagra (southern USSR), by the Black Sea. There, light and shapes awakened my gaze and sparked my fascination with photography. Later, I continued my education in Armenia, before leaving my country and family at sixteen. It was a new beginning, a profound uprooting. Yet, photography was there, a faithful companion and silent refuge, its future significance still unbeknownst to me.

Caught between the paths expected of me and those my gaze yearned to follow, I long hesitated to turn my passion into a profession. Would it survive the transformation, this silent presence that had accompanied me since childhood? That doubt vanished the day I stepped through the doors of Studio Harcourt, a place where every light, every shadow, every gesture tells a story, and where my gaze finally found its voice. Years of learning, listening, and humility alongside demanding masters taught me the essentials: to capture without taking, to guide without erasing, to reveal without overstepping.

Today, that gaze, shaped by the interplay of studio shadows and lights, has opened to the world. I now seek light elsewhere—in everyday faces, the silences of a place, the fragility of a moment. Each image is a tribute to this tradition, yet also a way to extend it, alive and personal. For photography, like life, is never possessed: it is explored, questioned, and reinvented with every image.

My Vision

My photography is a deliberate staging: every pose and light is crafted as part of a composition. I sculpt faces and bodies with light, playing with contrasts to reveal the strength of a glance or the softness of a gesture. Each image is a fragile balance of precision and mystery, meant to evoke emotion and unveil an inner truth. My portraits create a space where the subject shines differently—timeless, elegant, intense, yet always imbued with silence and poetry.

My Inspiration

“My inspiration arises in those fragile moments where intensity hides in simplicity. The theatricality of a glance, the softness of a curve, the echo of an atmosphere fuel my work. Each portrait becomes a meeting between the subject’s sensitivity and my desire to reveal what remains unspoken.”

My Style

Light as sculpture

I shape faces and bodies with mastered chiaroscuro, turning every shadow into expressive matter.

Theatrical staging

Each pose is crafted as a dramatic gesture, inspired by theater and cinema.

Contemporary voice

I honor classical heritage, transforming it into singular portraits where contrasts and details become language.
